Welcome Back from the Principal: August 29, 2017

August 29, 2017

Greetings, Tobin Families!

I hope you had a fantastic summer making lots of new memories with friends and family! I am looking forward to seeing how much the children have grown and hearing all about their summer adventures. I have been busy at Tobin, but I have also had the chance to travel and spend some quality time with my family. In just a few days, school will begin, and I am thrilled to welcome your children to Tobin Montessori as we kick off the 2017-2018 school year!

I am providing you with some information to help the first few days of school run smoothly:

Students in Grades 1-5
Students in Grades 1-5 will begin school on Tuesday, September 5th. School doors open at 7:15AM, and breakfast is available in the cafeteria at this time. ALL families and students should remain in the front lobby or cafeteria until 7:40AM. At 7:40AM, children may head up the ramp and enter their classrooms to prepare for their day. Morning Announcements begin at 7:55AM. Students will be marked tardy after 7:55AM. Please remember, there is no parking in the front circle. The circle is used for live drop off only during morning arrivals.
Student dismissal is at 1:55PM. Bus students will be escorted to their buses, and pick-up students will wait on the ramp for their parent/guardian. There is no parking in the circle during dismissal. The first day of school is a full day, and I anticipate some tired children as they transition back to a full schedule.

Children’s House Students
In your summer letter that was mailed to you, you should have received an appointment time for you and your child to come visit your teacher. During this time, you will review the classroom schedule and sort through the administrative paperwork. You will also have the chance to meet a couple of classmates! These appointments will take place on September 5th & 6th and typically last about an hour.

Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten students will officially begin school on Thursday, September 7th.

There is no parking in the circle during dismissal. The first day of school is a full day, and I anticipate some tired children as they transition back to a full schedule.

New Three-Year-Old Students
  • You have been sent an appointment time for you and your child to come visit your teacher on September 5th. During this time, you will review the classroom schedule and sort through the administrative paperwork. You will also have the chance to meet a couple of classmates!

  • In addition, all students enrolled in our three-year-old program should attend a transition hour on Wednesday, September 6th from 8 - 9AM. During this time, all three-year-old students will spend time in their classrooms, and parents will attend a Q & A session in the lobby.

  • Three-year-old students will officially begin school (full day or half day) on Monday, September 11th.

Enjoy the last few days of summer with your family. Take advantage of the lazy mornings and the later bedtimes (I know my own kids are). Before you know it, we will be back into the routine and schedule of the school year. Go for a bike ride, play in the park, and talk to your children about school. Let them know how excited we are to start a new year of learning alongside them. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Jaime Frost
