PARENT CORNER

Spooky snackAs you can see from the photo, it can be absurdly fun sending in Class Snack! The most fun I had so far though was sending them in with math questions written out on paper too. For example: "Gavin's mom cut 8 apples into 12 pieces each; How many pieces of apple are there?"  Or: "If there are 30 clementines, 30 celery stalks and 28 pieces of banana, how many pieces of produce are on this tray?" And my favorite, "If 28 ghosts have two eye sockets each, how many eye sockets do they all have?"

From attending Tobin workshops, I realize that mathematics are available to discuss with our kids in every day events. Remembering to play like this is not second nature for me... yet! I'm hoping that sending in edible works to class will be just a beginning. Moreover, if anyone else has helpful hints or success stories, I'd love to likewise hear about them in the Tobin Weekly!
