Mary FrawleyIf you haven't met Mary Frawley, our parent/family liaison, then you need to get out more often! Mary is an indispensable member of the Tobin administration who spreads sunshine wherever she goes…

Mary, how long have you been working at the Tobin school?
I started working at the school in April of 1985 as the Family Liaison working 10 hours a week. My two sons attended the school at the time. I have worked with 5 principals, 5 Superintendents, countless families and kids, and at least 200 staff members over the years! I have also seen many changes as far as programs are concerned in the school.

As the Family Liaison, what are your roles and responsibilities?
Over the years the roles and responsibilities have evolved and changed. The one thing that has stayed constant throughout the years, and in my opinion, is the most important part of my job, is my focus on trying to make families feel welcome and safe and that they know this is the best learning environment for their child and, moreover, that they know their opinion matters.

What is the favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is meeting new families and helping them find the answers to their important questions.

What is something the Tobin community may not know about you?
I am one of seven children and I grew up in North Cambridge. My husband grew up in West Cambridge (lived on Standish St.) and I have two sons: Joey (36) who lives in San Diego and Michael (34) who lives in Connecticut.

What do you do for fun?
I really enjoy going to sporting events, concerts, movies, and watching series on TV like Downton Abbey. I also LOVE driving my pick up truck onto the beach, looking for sea glass (still haven’t found a red one), puttering around my house, ice skating, reading and of course spending time with my family and friends.
