This week, the Tobin 5th graders – and even a few 4th graders – joined students from all over Cambridge at the CRLS gym for the annual Mad Hot Cambridge ballroom dance spectacular. Led by our fearless physical education teacher, Ms. Pam Spencer, the students paraded into the gymnasium and circled around to halt in front of their enthusiastic family and friends cheering section. Dressed to the nines, the kids showed off the dance moves they have been working on over the last two months in gym class. They danced the merengue, the waltz, the swing, the salsa, and the tango, switching partners each time. Then everyone enjoyed the dazzling performances of the MIT ballroom dance team before returning to the dance floor for the Dance-Off.
Congratulations to Iman (room 215) and Levin (room 224) for winning the trophy on behalf of Tobin! The evening concluded with everyone – including some eager younger siblings – joining in for a spirited rendition of
Cotton-Eye Joe.
