Cristina, as the Tobin building substitute teacher, what is a typical day like for you?
Every morning begins with checking in with Fay to see my schedule. Some days I am subbing the whole day in one classroom and other days I am moving from one room to the next to cover for teachers while they attend meetings. On days when no coverage is needed I work on a variety of projects for teachers and maintain the books in the literacy room (this is a room where all the leveled reading books are kept).
What inspires you most about Tobin?
I am constantly blown away by how well the teachers, coaches and administrators know our kids. I don't think I would have realized that if I didn't work here. There is constant communication, and no child could possibly fall through the cracks at Tobin.
What's your favorite jobs/tasks that you are put to as a building substitute?
I absolutely love doing read alouds. Kids of all ages love being read to!
What do you like to do during your free time?
I swim with Cambridge Masters, and I am training for the Boston Marathon. So right now running takes all my free time!!
Coffee or tea?
Decaf coffee!
