I hope you are well and excited for the imminent summer break. Signs of summer are popping up all over our garden:
- The strawberries are finally turning red!
- Tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, basil, and sweet potatoes are settled into the ground for a sunny season of growing. Look for them when you return in September!
- The raspberries are starting to produce fruit!
- The pumpkins have sprouted!
- Our meadow garden has adopted a vibrant purple color!
- Our students and teachers are making the most of the peak of the solar season:
Stacey deSimone's class planted a traditional Native American Three Sisters Bed of corn, beans, and squash. They even added a fish head for fertilizer! Neil diMaio's class prepared for their field trip to Fresh Pond by having a garden bio-blitz, in which they identified as many different species of animals, plants and fungus that they could find. The Children's House classes harvested spring greens for a special salad party!
Although there are only a few weeks left in the school year, there is still much to be experienced in our garden. I am at Tobin on Wednesday mornings (8:00 - 11:30) and Friday afternoons (12:00 - 4:30). Stop by and check it out! Thanks & see you in the garden!
