School Advisory Council

School Advisory Council
Posted on 10/02/2015
Have you been wondering how you could hear directly from the principal, coaches, and teachers about curriculum, social climate, and District initiatives? The School Advisory Council is your opportunity! As part of the Massachusetts Education Reform Act of 1993, every school is required to form a school council including elected family members and staff to advise the administration by assisting in identifying educational needs of students in the school, in reviewing the annual school budget and formulating the School Improvement Plan that sets goals and objectives for the school. The Tobin School Advisory Council usually meets the first Thursday of each month from 8-9AM and is open to the public. Agendas are made available in advance.

Our first meeting of the year will be Thursday, October 8th. Principal Jaime Frost and the academic coaches will be presenting an overview of the MCAS results. There will also be an informal discussion to provide information for Jaime's entry plan. All are welcome, but we are looking for half a dozen or so official school council representatives who can commit to being at all of the meetings. Come to the first meeting to see if this is something you’re interested in. Elections will take place in October.
