brittanyBrittany has been with the Tobin Montessori from the beginning...
fresh out of college!

What roads led you to the Tobin Montessori School?
I didn't realize that I wanted to be a teacher until I studied abroad in London! I have been at Tobin since my college graduation and I'm happy to say that the Montessori philosophy has been the perfect fit for me. I couldn't be luckier that I'm in my eighth year of teaching Lower El!

When school is closed because of a snowstorm, what do you like to do?
I wish I could say that I stay in pajamas all day, watch movies, and take a nap, but with three kids under five that is not realistic! I like to make a big breakfast with the kids, watch a kid movie, sit by the fireplace, and enjoy many cups of tea! I enjoy watching my husband play outside with the kids. Winter is just not for me!

Which do you prefer: ocean or lake?
This is a trick question! The answer is a swimming pool. It should be heated… to a crisp 88 degrees. When it's nice out, we spend a lot of time down in Falmouth. We like to take the kids to the beach, but you can find me on the sand.

Favorite sports team?
Anything Boston! Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, Bruins. Once my husband and I were asked to be in a Celtics halftime competition. I beat him in a shootout competition. He didn't feel alone for too long… I beat the next guy, too!

Coffee or tea?
I start everyday with an iced coffee. After that I'll only drink tea.

Favorite flavor ice cream?
Whatever I'm in the mood for, which changes all of the time. It could be coconut, or peanut butter, or black raspberry chocolate chip, or maybe I'd like an ice cream sundae, or a root beer float. Oh, sometimes I just have to get more than one flavor!

What don't we know about you?
My undergraduate thesis was published in “The Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics” in December 2008. I did research seven out of eight semesters for the psychology department. My research was based on “Preschool Parent-Pediatrician Consultations and Predictive Referral Patterns for Problematic Behaviors.” I haven't done any research since, but am often taking graduate classes to learn new things!
