Welcome Back from the Principal

Welcome Back from the Principal

Greetings, Tobin Families!

I hope you had an amazing summer making lots of new memories with friends and family! This summer I have been busy working at Tobin to prepare for the upcoming school year. We have hired some new staff members and even added a new classroom! I will be sending out more information, including new staff introductions next week. This summer I was also able to spend some quality time with my family---traveling, spending time at the beach and, of course, getting my two boys ready for third and sixth grade! In just a few weeks, school will begin, and I am thrilled to welcome your children to Tobin Montessori as we kick off the 2019-2020 school year!

I am providing you with some information to help the first few days of school run smoothly:

Students in Grades 1-5
Students in Grades 1-5 will begin school on Tuesday, September 3rd. School doors open at 7:15AM, and breakfast is available in the cafeteria at this time. ALL families and students should remain in the front lobby or cafeteria until 7:40AM. At 7:40AM, children may head up the ramp and enter their classrooms to prepare for their day. In an effort to promote student independence and to decrease the amount of adult traffic in the building, all parents/guardians of Lower Elementary & Upper Elementary students should say goodbye to their children in the lobby. Morning Announcements begin at 7:55AM. Students will be marked tardy after 7:55AM. Please remember, there is no parking in the front circle. The circle is used for live drop off only during morning arrivals.

Student dismissal is at 1:55PM. Bus students will be escorted to their buses, and pick-up students will wait on the ramp for their parent/guardian. There is no parking in the circle during dismissal. The first day of school is a full day, and I anticipate some tired children as they transition back to a full schedule.

Children’s House Students

In a summer email, you should have received an appointment time for you and your child to come visit your teacher. During this time, you will review the classroom schedule and sort through the administrative paperwork. You will also have the chance to meet a couple of classmates! These appointments will take place on September 3rd or 4th.

Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten students will officially begin school on Thursday, September 5th. School doors open at 7:15AM, and breakfast is available in the cafeteria at this time. ALL Families and students should remain in the front lobby or cafeteria until 7:40AM. At 7:40AM, children may head up the ramp and enter their classrooms to prepare for their day. New Three-Year-Old Students

  • You have been sent an appointment time for you and your child to come visit your teacher on September 4th. During this time, you will review the classroom schedule, chat with the teacher and sort through the administrative paperwork. You will also have the chance to meet a couple of classmates!

  • Three-year-old students will officially begin school (full day or half day) on Monday, September 9th.

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer with your children. Read together, play outside and let them know we are excited to start a new year of learning alongside them. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Jaime Frost
