Classroom Structure

students learning in classroom
Montessori classrooms for children ages 3-6 (Children’s House), ages 6-9 (Lower Elementary) and ages 9-11 (Upper Elementary) are self-contained and multi-age leveled. Children usually stay with the same teacher for three years. The older children in each level are able to help the younger ones while reinforcing their own learning and developing leadership skills.

Elementary classes extend beyond the immediate classroom. The school library is an important source where students do independent research. Older children leave the building frequently, with adult supervision, to extend their research by consulting with sources in the community.
