Meet Our Social-Emotional Learning Paraprofessional: Ms. Jess Percival!

Where did you grow up and what brought you to Tobin?
I grew up in Arlington, MA. I went to college in Vermont but after graduation I returned to the Boston area. I’ve always worked with children of various ages. I had a friend who was working at Tobin and told me about a new role at the school (the SEL position). It seemed like a good fit and a way to simultaneously continue working with children and utilize my degree in psychology.

What is your favorite time of year?
September through December, I love fall and I’m big on holidays so it's hard to choose one season.

Who was your favorite teacher at school and why?
This is difficult because I’ve had many impactful teachers over the years. I would say Ms. Eudenbach. I actually had her three different years (seventh grade English, high school English and an elective course on journalism) and she also was the faculty advisor for the high school newspaper which I wrote on. She always had a positive outlook, helped me improve immensely as a writer and introduced me to some of my favorite books.

Skiing in Aspen or sunning in the tropics?
Sunning in the tropics but under a large umbrella.

What is a hobby you have outside of school?
If shopping counts then shopping. Otherwise I love to travel, read and bake in my spare time.

Favorite movie?
Alice in Wonderland (the original)

Dark or milk chocolate?
Dark chocolate
