ajimenezMeet our Assistant Principal, Mr. Albert Jimenez!

Where did you grow up and what brought you to Tobin?
I grew up in San Diego, CA in a big family (humans and dogs). People usually think that means I grew up next to the beach but I actually grew up in a very small, rural community with avocado groves, chicken farms, and cow farms. After several years of teaching in Boston and New Orleans, I wanted to experience a Montessori environment. I came to Tobin to learn and grow with one of the best communities I’ve ever seen.

What is your favorite time of year?
Definitely not winter. It confuses me as a Californian. Any season I can wear sandals and not have my toes turn blue.

Who was your favorite teacher at school and why?
My high school English teacher, Mrs. Rienick. Besides letting me do my senior year presentation on the origins of waffles (one of my fav foods), she helped me discover my love of words. She also lent me my first dictionary that I’ve kept with me since.

Skiing in Aspen or sunning in the tropics?
Can I cheat and say hiking in the woods? I can’t ski to save my life.

Favorite movie?
A three way tie between Forrest Gump, Remember the Titans, and Monster’s Inc.

Dark or milk chocolate?
I don’t think Hershey’s cookies and cream qualify as either, but that.
