Meet Our Technology Integration Teacher: Julie Koepke!
Where did you grow up and what brought you to Tobin?
I grew up in Melrose, but have lived in many different places, including Washington DC, Malden, Tewksbury, and North Reading. This is my 25th year teaching!! I have been a Title I/RTI teacher, 4th grade teacher, 5th grade teacher and a technology teacher! I worked at the King Open School for 3 years. I wanted to learn more about the Montessori philosophy and there was an opening for me! I am so happy working with the staff and students here at Tobin!
What is your favorite time of year?
I love summer! Going to the beach, sitting at a pool, and spending time with my family is just the best!
Who was your favorite teacher at school and why?
I had many awesome teachers! But I think my favorite would be Ms. Hatch, my second grade teacher at the Washington School in Melrose. She was so funny and made learning enjoyable. She brought in lots of cool artifacts from her travels around the world. I still remember trying on her wooden Dutch shoes from Holland.
Skiing in Aspen or sunning in the tropics?
Without a doubt, I would rather be sunning in the tropics!
What is a hobby you have outside of school?
When I am at home, I enjoy reading and riding my Peloton! I am also a math tutor!
Favorite movie?
I have many favorites. At the moment I’d have to say
The Greatest Showman. From my childhood, I loved
The Muppet Movie.
Dark or milk chocolate?
Dark chocolate with a few almonds sprinkled in!
