Children’s House Room 283 students have been learning about the neighborhood community. Recently, the students discussed various locations in the familiar neighborhoods in Cambridge: schools, libraries, shops, parks, houses. Then, every student selected his or her favorite community location  to create a representation with a variety of the recycling materials. Young engineers were inventive in their thinking, worked very hard and had fun!

Did you ever see a penguin waddle this way and that? This week, 286 is learning all about Penguins! Check out our Morning Meeting penguin waddles, and some exciting new works around the room. We began the week by discussing what we already know about penguins, and we’ll end by discussing all the new things we’ve learned.

If you have a friend in Children’s House, invite them to share some Penguin Knowledge with you!

The children from Room 284 have been busy learning!

Photos, clockwise from top left:
– Aliyah read "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and wanted to make a spider of her own.
– Mohammed, Soliana, Waard and Shreya were playing "Race to 20" together and having a fun time counting out the beads.
– Kindergartener Liz is playing "Race to 100" with one of her classmates.
– Room 284 worked on a fun practical life activity "cutting hair". Each student drew a face and colored hair, then cut the hair into a new style.
– Alara is doing a follow-up to her guided reading work and is writing sentences.
