Congratulations to Ismail Bolat, grade 4 student at the Tobin Montessori School on winning first place in the Longfellow Student Poetry contest. This annual contest is open to all Massachusetts students grades 3 - 12 and is run by the National Parks Service (Longfellow House Washington’s Headquarters) in partnership with the New England Poetry Club. Ismail’s poem, titled “About Me” is a fun and relatable poem about personal qualities. With the support of his family, he turned his poem into a catchy song to pair with a playful video. Listen to “About Me” and watch the video here.

About Me
by Ismail Bolat
I am like a rock.
Sometimes staying still
I am like a lock.
Only 1 password works
I am like a sock.
Not always do I fit
I am like dice.
Everything is random
I am like rice.
The sweet tooth in me
I am like a price.
I don't always do/give things for free
I am like a bag.
I can't hold that much!
I am like a rag.
Always absorbing new things
I am like a pack.
I always hold new things
I am like time.
I always have a limit
I am like a lime.
Very sour!
I am like a mime.
Haha!
I am like… the way I am.
