Thank you for thinking of your library! If you would like to donate new or used books to the Tobin Montessori/VLUS Library, please consider the following:

• Books should be in very good condition (i.e. no ripped pages, writing in the book, etc).
• Hard cover books are best for the library, due to circulation wear and tear.
• The content and level of books should be appropriate for a K-5 or 6-8 school.

All donations are examined by the professional school librarian. The librarian has the discretion not to add donated items to the library collection. She may make this decision if:
Books do not meet the criteria of the CPS Selection Policy.

• Books are in too poor condition to withstand circulation.
• Content is inappropriate to a K-8 school collection.
• There are currently multiple copies of the book in the collection.

If books are not added to the library collection, they may be passed on to classroom teachers, to other students in the school, or to another charity or depository.

Please note that donations of magazines are usually passed on to the art teacher or other classroom teachers for art projects.
