Meet Our Building Substitute Teacher Matt Prokos!

Where did you grow up and what brought you to Tobin?
I grew up in Winchester, MA and started working at Tobin’s Afterschool Program after getting my BA in Psychology from Wheaton College and moving into the big city. I always enjoyed my time at Tobin so I eventually took a full time role as a sub when one opened up!

What is your favorite time of year?
I like all the seasons! One of the perks of living in New England is you get all kinds of weather. I do love to snowboard with my family and friends in the winter, though.

Who was your favorite teacher at school and why?
My favorite teacher was Ms. Lev, who taught a few of my high school classes. She was super friendly and down to earth. She also kept it real with us kids, which is refreshing when some highschool teachers seem checked out. She always made art classes interesting for the students and gave us cool projects to do, like making a camera obscura or letting us make multimedia projects in Humanities class rather than just writing papers.

Skiing in Aspen or sunning in the tropics?
Both please

What is a hobby you have outside of school?
I play bass guitar and a few other instruments like my Casio digital guitar (an antique from the ‘80s)!

Favorite movie?
Star Wars (the old ones)

Dark or milk chocolate?
Dark chocolate. It’s healthy, like eating a vegetable.
